The short answer
To hide adult channels, IPTV setups need three layers: the account’s 18+ PIN, your player’s own lock on the adult groups, and the player’s hide option so those groups disappear from the guide. On devices that support profiles, add a clean profile for everyone else.
Act IWho’s on the couch
Three households, three different needs
Parents with kids under 13
The priority is that nothing 18+ is ever visible or one press away. Hide the adult groups, lock them with an app PIN, and keep the account PIN to yourself. Kids this age mostly scroll, so out of sight is the main win.
Parents with teenagers
Teens try codes. Lock and hide, but also change the account PIN from the one in your welcome email, and don’t reuse a code they’ve seen you type on the alarm or the phone.
Roommates or guests
Less about protection, more about not having the 18+ groups show up when someone else grabs the remote. Here the point of hiding the adult groups is courtesy, not protection. A hidden group plus a second neutral profile is usually enough.

Act II
How each player lets you hide adult channels
Wording inside each app shifts with updates. The table reflects what our support team sees on current releases of each player.
| Lock with app PIN | Hide from guide | Separate profile | |
|---|---|---|---|
| TiviMate | Yes, per group | Yes, per group | Via a second playlist |
| IPTV Smarters Pro | Yes, per category | Partly; locked categories stay listed | Yes, multiple users |
| XCIPTV | Yes | Varies by version | Limited |
| IBO Player | Varies by version | Varies by version | Per device |
| VLC | No | No | No |
Act III
The ten-minute routine to hide adult channels, IPTV player by player
Do this once per device. It’s the same order whichever app you use; only the menu names change. If the bank side of privacy matters too, our discreet billing page covers it.
Change the account PIN
Whoever knows the account code can open the 18+ area on any screen, so replace the one from your welcome email with your own; our PIN and password guide shows how.
Open the player’s lock settings
Usually under Settings, then Parental control or Parental lock. Set an app PIN that differs from the account PIN.
Tick every adult group
Live TV first, then Movies and Series if your player separates them. Missing the film side is the most common gap.
Hide the same groups
In TiviMate, open the group options and hide each 18+ group. The guide then shows only general channels.
Clear recent rows
Remove any adult titles from Continue Watching or Recently Watched on the start screen.
Test it as a guest would
Hand the remote to yourself as a stranger: scroll the guide, open Movies, try search. Nothing 18+ should appear without a code.
The lock stops someone opening an adult channel. The hide option stops them wondering what’s behind the lock. In a family room you want both.

Act IVSearch
The gap most people miss: search
Hidden groups and locked categories don’t always disappear from a player’s search results. In some versions, typing a word into the global search can surface an adult title’s name or poster, even if opening it then asks for a PIN.
Test search on your device after setup. If adult results appear, there are two clean fixes: use a second profile without those categories for the family, or rely on the account PIN and keep the player’s search for yourself. This is one reason we keep the account PIN in place regardless of what the app does; IPTV parental controls on the app side vary, the account lock doesn’t.
Act VFourth layer
Device-level locks: the layer above the player
Your TV or streaming stick has its own IPTV parental controls of a sort, even though they know nothing about IPTV. They lock whole apps rather than channels, and in a house with young kids that can be the simplest move of all.
- Fire TV: the system settings include a parental controls section with its own PIN. Turned on, it can ask for that PIN before apps open (names vary by Fire OS version).
- Google TV: kids’ profiles only show apps a parent approves, so your player simply isn’t there for them.
- Apple TV and iPhone: Screen Time can restrict which apps are allowed and when.
A locked player app is a blunt tool: it hides sport and news too. But for a toddler with a remote, blunt is fine. To hide adult channels, IPTV app settings stay the finer tool for older kids and adults.

Act VI
When hidden adult channels come back
- Hidden groups reappear after a few days
The playlist refreshed and a group name changed
Hide the new group name once; it stays hidden after that
- App PIN gone after an update
Some updates reset local settings
Set the app lock again; the account PIN is unaffected
- Teen got past the lock
App PIN guessed or seen
Change both codes; message us to reset the account PIN
- Adult posters on the start screen
Recently Added row isn’t covered by the lock
Lock the Movies categories too, or use a separate profile
- Lock works on TV, not on phone
Locks are stored per device
Repeat the setup on each device that has the login

Act VIIProfiles
A clean profile for everyone else
Smarters Pro lets you add the same login more than once under different names. Add a second user for the household and never favorite or open adult categories in it; the start screen then shows only what the family watches. On TiviMate, a second playlist entry does a similar job.
Profiles don’t replace the PIN, they make it rarely needed. For more on app-specific settings, see the TiviMate guide and the Smarters Pro guide.
